Other Local Restaurants
We have nearly every imaginable fast food chain: McDonalds, Burger King, Hardees, Fazoli’s, Chic-Fil-A, Arby’s, Taco Bell, Dairy Queen, among many others. Most of these are located on the northside of Muncie near the McGalliard Rd/Wheeling Ave corridor. Then on the Southside of the city off Madison Ave just South of Memorial Ave.
Hungry For Pizza?
We’ve got it! Domino’s, Pizza Hut, Papa John’s, Little Caesar’s, Hot Box Pizza, Cousin Vinny’s, Mancino’s Pizza & Grinders, & Papa Murphy’s (among others). There are really four stand out local favorites though that need a special mention: Pizza King — this chain is founded in Muncie with locations all over the state. If you’re from Muncie, this is by far one of the local favorites. The Royal Feast is a no-brainer. It’s thinner style , square cut yumminess! Greek’s Pizzaria — with 2 locations in Muncie (and many others in Indiana), this too was founded in Muncie. The most popular location is in The Village near Ball State. Thicker style crust. You will love this pizza. Osteria 32 — this is located on Kilgore Rd. It’s an Italian Bistro and their pizza is fantastic, especially their deep dish. Then, Elm Street Bar & Grill — the atmosphere of this place is very cool. Great craft beers and full bar, with lots of food options and custom pizza’s fired in a wood fireplace. There are other restaurants that are now serving pizza like the 625 Taphouse or The Guardian Brewery — search and you shall find!
Other Notable Local Favorites (and this list is always changing):
Many of these are listed above in the Downtown section, but when mentioning favorites, repeating them only makes sense. Below are really Muncie’s most popular outside of the National Chain Restaurants. This is by no means an exhaustive list:
Texas Roadhouse Steakhouse: I’ve heard this is the highest grossing restaurant in town. American Steakhouse. There’s a reason why so many go there. Brand new building and reasonable prices.
Amazing Joe’s: Open again after their COVID break like many, this is a local favorite known for their consistency week after week and menu that never changes (literally).
Vera Mae’s Bistro: A favorite for 20+ yrs, located downtown. Finer dining yet a casual atmosphere. Great martini’s. This is a common place that BSU department head’s bring new hires during their interview process.
Neely House: The owner’s had an amazing vision for this old house downtown. After a complete restoration, this is one of Muncie’s finest. They’ve also been written up as having one of the Top 10 best brunches in Indiana.
Lahody’s Steakhouse: Also downtown, this is a welcomed new restaurant owned by a local butcher. The steaks are fantastic. Full bar. Not cheap, but you’ll love it.
Delaware Country Club: This is a private club that’s been serving families for more than 100 years. You can buy a social membership (not just golf). Their service is great and the food is delicious. Located on the Eastside of town.
Merk’s Family Restaurant: Located at our local airport, this is a great casual dining place known for their huge breakfasts.
Thai Smiley 2: A local favorite for a long time. Traditional Thai. So good.
Sitara Indian Restaurant: Also on the Northside of town, I think this is the only Indian food in town and it is fantastic. The lunch buffet is the way to go so you can sample it all!
Mexican Restaurants: Boy, these are always busy restaurants! We have many of them like Puerto Vallarta, Casa Del Sol, Chavas, La Hacienda, and a personal favorite of mine El Rancho Poblano in Yorktown. To find more gourmet style mexican fare, you’ll have to go to Indy. In other words, the menu’s are basically the same at each restaurant.
Other Family Chain Restaurants:
We have lots of these: Chili’s, Applebee’s, Bob Evans, Ruby Tuesday, Johnny Carino’s, Olive Garden, Outback Steakhouse, McCallister’s Deli, Red Lobster, among many others!
